Merzouga Desert Photography Tour
The Erg Chebbi dunes change colour every hour, from soft pink at sunrise to deep orange at sunset. Our Merzouga desert photography tour takes you to the right dune at the right moment, with a local guide who knows where the light falls. It suits beginners with a phone as well as photographers with a full camera bag.

What you will photograph
- Sunrise and sunset from the highest dunes of Erg Chebbi
- Clean dune ridges and sand patterns, away from tracks and crowds
- Camel caravan silhouettes against the sky
- Nomad families and desert life (always with permission)
- The Milky Way and star trails on clear nights

How the photography tour works
Sunset session: we leave about two hours before sunset and walk or drive to quiet dunes. Your guide sets up camel caravan shots and helps with angles and composition.
Sunrise session: we start in the dark and climb a dune before first light, to catch the blue hour and the first golden light on the ridges.
Book a single session, both sessions with a night at camp, or add a night photography session.
Tips for photographing the Sahara

Do I need a professional camera?
No. A smartphone works well, and your guide will help you get the most from it.
When is the best light in Merzouga?
The first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset. Winter skies are often the clearest for stars.
Can I photograph local people?
Yes, with respect. Your guide will introduce you and ask permission first.
Can I do night photography?
Yes. On clear nights away from the camp lights, the Milky Way is easy to see and photograph.
