Merzouga Full-Day Excursion & Picnic – Discover the Desert Around Erg Chebbi

Merzouga Full-Day Excursion & Picnic

Spend a whole day exploring the Sahara around Merzouga by 4x4 with a local driver-guide. This full-day excursion shows you the side of the desert most visitors never see, and includes a relaxed picnic lunch in the shade.

We drive around the Erg Chebbi dunes on desert tracks, visit a nomad family for tea in their tent, and stop in the village of Khamlia to listen to Gnawa music played by the descendants of the first families who settled here.

Depending on the day, we continue to the black desert, old mining sites and fossil areas, the seasonal lake of Dayet Srji where you may see flamingos, and the market town of Rissani with its souk and ksar.

Lunch is a picnic prepared by our team: Moroccan salads, bread, fruit and mint tea, served on carpets in a quiet spot in the desert.
