Luxury, Standard or Wild Camp? Choosing Your Merzouga Desert Camp

Find the right camp for your night in the Sahara
A night in the dunes is the highlight of any trip to Merzouga. All our camps include a camel ride, dinner, breakfast and the magic of the desert at night – but the style and comfort are different. Here is how to choose.
Luxury desert camp
Spacious tents with real beds, quality linen, electricity and a private bathroom with shower and toilet in each tent. Dinner is served in a restaurant tent, often with live Berber music around the fire.
Best for: couples, honeymoons, families and anyone who wants comfort after a long drive. See our Merzouga luxury camp.
Standard desert camp
Traditional Berber tents with comfortable beds and blankets, shared bathroom facilities, a traditional dinner of tagine and an evening of drums and stories by the fire.
Best for: travellers who want an authentic experience at a good price. See our standard desert camp.
Wild camp
A small, simple camp far from the other camps, with nothing around you but sand and stars. Fewer facilities, more silence.
Best for: adventurers, photographers and stargazers. See our Merzouga wild camp.
Night with a nomad family
Not a camp in the usual sense: you share the life, food and tea of a Berber nomad family in their home in the desert. Simple, warm and unique.
Best for: curious travellers who want to learn about desert culture. See our overnight stay with a nomad family.
Something special: sunset wine table
For a romantic evening, combine your night with our sunset wine table on the dunes.
What to bring for the night
- A small bag with toothbrush, a change of clothes and medicines.
- A warm layer – desert nights can be cold, especially in winter.
- A torch or your phone light, and a power bank.
- Sunglasses and a scarf for the camel ride.
Still not sure? Tell us who you are travelling with and what you like – we will recommend the right camp.
